Amanal Petros, Samuel Fitwi Sibhatu and Richard Ringer will compete for the Frankfurt Marathon title

The Frankfurt Marathon returns on October 25, and the German trio of Amanal Petros, Samuel Fitwi Sibhatu and Richard Ringer will try to impress the crowd in the men’s race. In the women’s race, the spotlight will be on Ethiopian star Zeineba Yimer.

Amanal Petros starts as the reigning European champion and silver medalist at the 2025 World Championships, aiming to triumph in front of his home crowd. Richard Ringer also holds a European championship title, won in 2022, and Samuel Fitwi Sibhatu came ninth at the 2026 European Athletics Championships in Birmingham, making the German team a formidable force.

The hosts, however, will face stiff international competition from 2024 winner Benard Biwott, 24, of Kenya, as well as Andualem Belay of Ethiopia and Haimro Alame of Israel.

In the women’s race, Zeineba Yimer is one of only three competitors with a personal best under 2:20:00, the other two being American Betsy Saina and Ethiopian Buzunesh Gudeta.

Germany will also be represented by 24-year-old Blanka Dorfel, who will make her official debut at the classic marathon distance after winning the national 10,000m title earlier this year.
