
American discus thrower Valarie Allman
Valarie Allman is a distinguished American athlete who specializes in the discus throw. She has achieved the remarkable feat of being a two-time Olympic champion, securing gold medals at both the Tokyo 2020 and the Paris 2024 Olympics. In addition, she earned a bronze medal at the 2022 World Athletics Championships, making her the first American woman to win a world championship medal in the discus throw, and subsequently added a silver medal at the 2023 World Championships. She holds the North American record in the event.
Valarie Carolyn Allman was born on February 23, 1995, in Newark, Delaware, United States. In 2013, she completed her high school education at Silver Creek High School located in Longmont, Colorado. Subsequently, in 2017, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in product design from Stanford University.
Valarie Allman achieved the distinction of being a seven-time All-American at Stanford University. Subsequently, she represented her nation at the 2017 Summer Universiade, securing a silver medal, and participated in the 2017 World Championships, although she did not advance to the final. In 2018, she earned the title of National Champion.
Valarie Allman started her competitive career already in 2011, winning the discus throw gold at the Myrtle Beach US Youth Championships, as well as the bronze at the Wichita USATF Junior Olympic Championships and Lakewood Colorado State High School Championships.

In 2014, Valarie Allman started again with impressive result of 57.17m to earn the gold at the Berkeley Cal Opener. She also triumphed at the Sacramento Hornet Invitational and competed at the Sacramento USA Championships, but missed the honor. However, Valarie Allman improved her personal best to 57.45m at the Eugene USA Junior Championships, winning the gold. At the end of the season, she made her biggest international achievement to win the silver at the Eugene IAAF World Junior Championships with 56.75m.
Valarie Allman started the 2015 season by finished 4th at the Austin Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays and Palo Alto Stanford Invitational. A few days later, however, she won the gold at the Palo Alto The Big Meet with a new personal best of 57.48m. She finished 5th at the Eugene NCAA Division I Championships and 10th at the Eugene USA Championships. She finished the season by competing at the Gwangju Universiade, finishing 5th.
In 2016, Valarie Allman won the silver at the Sacramento Hornet Invitational with a new personal best of 58.09m. During the season she won the gold at the Berkeley The Big Meet -Cal vs. Stanford and Palo Alto Payton Jordan Invitational, but also earned the bronze at the Eugene NCAA Division I Championships, again improving her personal best to 61.42m. In July, she finished 6th at the Eugene U.S. Olympic Trials.
In 2017, Valarie Allman continue improving her results and reached 64.69m at the Palo Alto Stanford Cardinal Classic, winning the gold. Meanwhile, she won the bronze at the Sacramento USA Championships and the silver at the Universiade in Taipei City. She competed at the London IAAF World Championships in Athletics, but with disappointing 53.85m did not overcome the qualifications.
Valarie Allman continue gaining experience and improved her discuss throw in 2018, crossing the 60-meter mark six times during the season. She won her first national title at the Des Moines USA Championships with 63.55m and finished third at the Eugene NCAA Division I Championships. She won her second national title at the Des Moines USA Championships and earned the bronze at the The Match Europe vs USA in Minsk, but also finished 7th at the Doha IAAF World Championships in Athletics. At the Diamond League, she finished 4th in Rabat, 5th in Paris, 6th in Stockholm and Birmingham, as well as 5th in the Diamond League Final in Brussels.
Valarie Allman missed the 2020 season, competing only at the Iron Wood Throws Center Invitational to earn the gold with the impressive 70.15m.
However, in 2021, she made her Olympics debut and triumphed with the title at Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Earlier, Valarie Allman won her first Diamond League honors, earning the silver in Doha and Brussels, bronze in Paris, but also triumphed with the gold in the Diamond League Final in Zurich. She won the gold at the Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships and the bronze at the Eugene World Athletics Championships. Valarie Allman won her second Diamond League title, winning the Final in Zurich. Meanwhile, she triumphed with the gold at the ISTAF 2022 in Berlin and earned the silver at the Memorial Borisa Hanzekovica in Zagreb.
In 2023, Valarie Allman was unstoppable, winning almost all the competitions she participated. She won her third Diamond League Final title, but also triumphed in Firenze and Paris. She won the Eugene USA Championships, Bellinzona Gala dei Castelli, ISTAF in Berlin, USATF Los Angeles Grand Prix, and 20 Internationaler Thumer Werfertag. At the Budapest World Athletics Championships, however, she missed the gold and finished second with 69.23m. Her season best was 70.47m.
In 2024, Valarie Allman won her second Olympics title, triumphing at the Paris Games. Meanwhile, she won her fourth Diamond League Final in Brussels, not losing a single event that she competed. She triumphed with the gold at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, Cameron Burrell Alumni Invitational, Xiamen, Suzhou, Eugene, and Paris Diamond League, USATF Los Angeles Grand Prix, as well as Boris Hanzekovic Memorial in Zagreb. her season’s best was 70.89m.
