Attila Molnar recorded an exceptionally strong performance in the men’s 400m at the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold Label’s tournament Czech Indoor Gala in Ostrava. The 23-year-old Hungarian athlete, winner of the bronze medal in the 400m at the European U23 Championships in 2023, won the race in Ostrava with 45.08 sec. This is a new Hungarian record, as well as a new tournament record, and also a result number one in the world for the season.

What’s more, with this result, Attila Molnar came in third place in the all-time European indoor rankings. Only Thomas Schonlebe (Germany) and Karsten Warholm (Norway) have been faster than him in the history of the continent, who share the first place with 45.05 sec.

With this achievement, Attila Molnar also equals 28th place in the all-time world indoor rankings.

“It was an incredible run. My stomach hurt a little bit, so I felt bad before the start. That’s why I was surprised by the result. Last year there was a bit of a setback emotionally. Because of that I couldn’t improve and now everyone thinks my performance tonight is a bit crazy. Honestly, I had it in me last year, but this time I was really well prepared, said Molnar after his impressive performance in the Czech Republic”, said Attila Molnar after the race.

Second in the men’s 400m at the Czech Indoor Gala in Ostrava was Matej Krsek with a personal best of 45.85 sec, and third was Patrik Simon Enyingi (Hungary) with a personal best of 46.19 sec.

At the Czech Indoor Gala in Ostrava was also achieved the best result in the world for the season in women’s 400m. The silver medalist of the world indoor 400 from Glasgow 2024, Lieke Klaver (Netherlands), achieved a convincing victory with 50.92 sec. Lada Vondrove (Czech Republic) finished second and the bronze was for Ama Pipi (Great Britain).
