
Audrey Werro won the 800m title at the Swiss Championships with a new national record
European U20 and U23 champion Audrey Werro clocked a phenomenal 1:56.29 min to win the 800m title at the Swiss Championships.
Leading from start to finish, Audrey Werro ran the 400m in 56.64 sec and the 600m in 1:26.61 min, beating her previous Swiss record of 1:57.25 min, set earlier this season in Bydgoszcz, by almost a whole second.
With less than three weeks to go until the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, the 21-year-old has climbed to second in the 2025 world rankings behind Keely Hodgkinson, who has times of 1:54.74 min and 1:55.69 min this season.
Lore Hoffmann and Veronica Vancardo finished second and third in personal bests of 1:58.29 min and 1:59.10 min, respectively.
European indoor and outdoor champion Angelica Moser also excelled, winning the pole vault with a time of 4.80m before making three attempts for a new national record of 4.89m.
After clocking 13.16 sec in the heats, Jason Joseph won the 110m hurdles title in 13.27 sec, beating Simon Ehammer in 13.59 sec. Simon Ehammer won the long jump title with a time of 8.05m as he prepares for the decathlon in Tokyo.
Other highlights included Salome Kora’s victory in the women’s 100m in 11.10 sec and Lionel Spitz’s return to form with a win in the men’s 400m in 45.24 sec.
