
Bahamian athlete Anthaya Charlton topped the women’s long jump world rankings for the season
Bahamian athlete Anthaya Charlton has topped the women’s long jump world rankings for the season. She cleared 6.98m at a college competition in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Anthaya Charlton’s achievement is a new Bahamian record and also a qualifying mark for the World Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China, from March 21-23.
The previous Bahamian indoor long jump record was 6.82m set by Daphne Saunders in 1994.
Anthaya Charlton is competing for FLorida Gators and was awarded 2024 USTFCCCA Outdoor First Team All-American in the long jump. During the season she won the long jump gold at the Nassau NACAC New Life Invitational and finished 4th at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships in Euegene.
Anthaya Charlton is also Bahamian Champion for 2024 and one of the top athlete of the country.
