
Bayapo Ndori defeated Olympics champion Letsile Tebogo at the Maurie Plant Meet in Melbourne
Paris 2024 Olympic 200m champion Letsile Tebogo has started the 2025 season with a defeat. The Botswanan talent finished second in the 400m event at the Maurie Plant Meet in Melbourne, Australia, with a time of 45.26 sec. He was beaten by his compatriot and teammate on Botswana’s 4x400m relay team at Paris 2024, Bayapo Ndori, who won the race in 45.14 sec. Both athletes were silver medalists in the 4x400m in Paris last year.
Third place in the 400m events at at the Maurie Plant Meet in Melbourne, Australia, was again for Botswana. Leungo Scotch earned the bronze with 45.60 sec.
The Australian athletes Cooper Sherman and Luke van Ratingen completed the Top 5, but remained out of the podium.
Letsile Tebogo won the 200m gold at the Paris 2024 Olympics, marking the first Olympic gold for his country. Additionally, he secured a silver medal in the 100m at the 2023 World Championships, followed by a bronze in the 200m just five days later. Since April 2022, he holds the world U20 record in the 100m and is recognized as the first man from Botswana to break the 10-second barrier.
