
Bozhidar Saraboyukov set a new national and meeting long jump record to win the gold in Belgrade
Bozhidar Saraboyukov continues to break records. The talented Bulgarian athlete improved his own national record from a week ago (8.39m) after winning the World Athletics Tour Indoor Tournament with a “gold label” in Belgrade with the best result in the world for the season of 8.45m. Bozhidar Saraboyukov achieved this result in his fifth attempt. Thus, he emerged as the sole number one in the world for the season, after previously sharing the first position with the current world indoor and outdoor champion Mattia Furlani with 8.39m each.
Bozhidar Saraboyukov won the competition in Belgrade and with a new tournament record. Until now, this achievement was held by the holder of all possible titles in athletics Miltiadis Tentoglou with 8.25m from 2022. The Bulgarian athlete made a remarkable series with results over 8.20m. He started the competition with 8.23m, then improved the tournament record with 8.26m. However, Miltiadis Tentoglou himself regained this record with 8.27m. A foul followed for Bozhidar Saraboyukov in the fourth attempt. A new tournament record in the fifth – 8.29m. The talented Bulgarian athlete made the first jump over 8.40m in his career on his fifth exit in the sector, when he landed at 8.45m. On his last exit in the sector, the Bulgarian again made a good attempt, but with a small foul.
Miltiadis Tentoglou finished second in the competition with 8.27m, and the bronze medalist in the indoor world championships in Glasgow in 2024 Carey McLeod (Jamaica) came in third with 8.22m. Four competitors in today’s start in the long jump exceeded the 8-meter mark. Finland’s Kristian Pulli came in fourth with 8.08m.
