Morgan Lake is British high jumper and heptathlete, who is World U20 champion, European U20 champion, Commonwealth Games silver medalist, as well as 16-time national champion. Her personal best in the high jump is 199cm, which is a national record. In pentathlon, she holds the national U20 record with 4,527 points.

Morgan Lake was born on May 12, 1997, in Milton Keynes, United Kingdom. She started in athletics as a kid and showed great talent and skills in the high jump and combined events. In 2013, she set a new UK Under-17 high jump record that had stood for 29 years, and the subsequent year, she surpassed the 23-year-old UK U20 high jump record. As a talented combined events athlete during her teenage years, Morgan Lake claimed both the high jump and heptathlon titles at the 2014 World U20 Championships at the age of 17. Additionally, she established a new world indoor U18 pentathlon record that same year.

Morgan Lake started her competitive career already in 2010, winning the long jump gold at the Birmingham England U15 Indoor Championships and Birmingham English School’s Championships, as well as the high jump at the Hendon UK Young Athletes League, clearing 170cm.

In 2011, Morgan Lake won the high jump golds at the Birmingham England Athletics Junior Indoor Championships, Bedford England Athletics U17 Championships, and Birmingham McCain Young Athletes League, improving her personal best 176cm. Meanwhile, during the season she competed also in 60m, combined events and long jump.

In 2012, Morgan Lake won the pentathlon silver medals at the Sheffield England Combined Events U20 Indoor Championships and Cardiff GBR-FRA-ESP Junior Combined Events Match, as well as high jump gold at the Hendon McCain Young Athletes’ League, Bedford England U17 Championships, and Derby National Junior League, improving her personal best to 180cm.

Morgan Lake won her first senior national medal in 2013, earning the high jump silver at the Sheffield UK Indoor Championships. She also competed at the Donetsk IAAF World Youth Championships, but failed to earn a honor in heptathlon, while in the high jump won the gold at the Bedford England U17 Championships, and the silver at the Loughborough International.

In 2014, Morgan Lake made a breakthrough in international athletics, winning the high jump gold and heptathlon gold at the Eugene IAAF World Junior Championships, clearing 193cm and collecting 6148 points. Meanwhile, during the season she cleared 194cm, which improved her personal best. At the Birmingham UK Championships, she won the bronze in the high jump and finished 5th in the long jump. She competed at the Zurich European Championships, but did not overcome the qualifications.

Morgan Lake started the 2015 season by winning the pentathlon gold at the Nogent-sur-Oise FRA-ESP-GBR U23 CE Match. She continue by finishing 6th at the Trinec Moravian High Jump Tour and winning the silver at the Sheffield UK Indoor Championships, both in the high jump. At the Praha European Indoor Championships, she finished 9th in the pentathlon, while at the Gotzis Hypo-Meeting remained 23rd in the pentathlon. Morgan Lake made her Diamond League debut at the Birmingham British Athletics Grand Prix, finishing 8th in the high jump with 188cm. At the Birmingham UK Championships, she won another high jump silver, clearing 188cm, while at the European Junior Championships won another prestigious international gold in the high jump with 191cm. She won the high jump bronze at the Eberstadt Internationales Hochsprung-Meeting and competed at the Beijing IAAF World Championships, but did not overcome the qualifications.

Morgan Lake made her Olympics debut in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, finishing 10th in the high jump final with 193cm. During the season she won her first national titles at the Sheffield British Indoor Championships and Birmingham UK Championships. In combined events, she won the pentathlon gold at the Salamanca ESP-FRA-GBR U23 Combined Events Matc and finished 6th in heptathlon at the Portland IAAF World Indoor Championships and Kladno TNT Express Meeting, but also competed at the Amsterdam European Athletics Championships. She competed also at the Diamond League’s London Müller Anniversary Games, but finished 7th in the high jump after clearing 192cm.

Morgan Lake focused in the high jump in 2017 and started the season by winning the gold at the Hustopece High Jump Meeting with 192cm and Sheffield British Indoor Championships with 189cm. At the Beograd European Indoor Championships she finished 8th after covering 185cm only, and 5th at the London IAAF World Championships in Athletics with 195cm. At the Diamond League, she finished 4th at the Roma Golden Gala – Pietro Mennea and Athletissima Lausanne, 7th at the London Müller Anniversary Games, and 8th in the Diamond Leagues Final Bruxelles Memorial Van Damme. Meanwhile, during the season, Morgan Lake finished 5th at the Zagreb IAAF World Challenge, 4th at the Eberstadt Internationales Hochsprung-Meeting, 7th at the Villeneuve d’Ascq European Team Championships, and 4th at the Hengelo FBK Games. She won the gold at the Birmingham British Championships with 196cm and the silver at the Loughborough International won the gold with 187cm.

In 2018, Morgan Lake won her first Diamond League honors, winning the high jump bronze at the London Muller Anniversary Games, clearing 191cm. She also won the silver at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games with 193cm and finished 4th at the Birmingham IAAF World Indoor Championships again with 193cm. Meanwhile, she won the silver at the Glasgow Muller Indoor Grand Prix and London Athletics World Cup, but also earned the bronze at the Hustopeče High Jump Meeting. Morgan Lake also competed at the Berlin European Athletics Championships, finishing 7th. Locally, she dominated the high jump again winning the titles at the Birmingham UK Indoor Championships and Birmingham British Championships.

Morgan Lake proved to be the top British high jumper and one of the leader in the event in 2019 as well. She started the season by winning the gold at the High Jump Meeting with a new personal best of 197cm. At the Birmingham UK Indoor Championships she won another gold, clearing 194cm, while at the Glasgow European Indoor Championships, finished 9th with 191cm in the final. Morgan Lake finished 6th at the Gavle European U23 Championships and competed also at the Doha IAAF World Championships in Athletics. She won another title at the Birmingham British Championships and the bronze at the Meeting Citta Di Padova.

The 2020 season was shorted due to coronavirus pandemic and this affected the results of Morgan Lake as well. She won the silver at the Glasgow UK Indoor Championships and the gold at the Manchester British Championships, but also finished 4th at the World Athletics Indoor Tour’s Muller Indoor Grand Prix Glasgow.

In 2021, Morgan Lake started the season by winning the gold at the Beograd Serbian Open Indoor Meeting 2021, clearing 196cm. After winning the British trials, she qualified for the European Athletics Indoor Championships, but did not succeeded to reach the finals after disappointing result of 187cm. She won another Diamond League’s honor, earning the bronze at the Muller Grand Prix Gateshead. During the season, Morgan Lake grabbed the high jump gold medals at the Manchester Invitational, BIGish Jumps & Throws Fest, Manchester British Championships, and England Athletics Senior Championships, as well as the silver at the Hungarian GP Series Tatabanya and ATLETICAGENEVE. At the end of the season, she competed at her second Olympics in Tokyo, overcoming the qualifications with 5th best result of 195cm, but withdrew due to injury and again missed the honors.

Morgan Lake started the 2022 season only in May to win the high jump gold at the PURE Athletics Global Invitational and the silver at the The Orange County Classic. At the Castiglione International Meeting she finished 4th, but earned the gold at the BIGish Jumps & Throws Fest. Morgan Lake competed at Rabat Diamond League but again missed the honors by finishing 5th with 190cm. She won the gold at the Manchester Muller UK Athletics Championships and the bronze at the ATLETICAGENEVE – EAP, before failing at the Eugene World Athletics Championships and Munich European Athletics Championships, where failed to qualify for the final. Meanwhile, she finished 4th at the Birmingham XXII Commonwealth Games.

In 2023, Morgan Lake returned to the track and field by setting a personal best and national record of 199cm at the Hustopecske skakani in Czech Republic, claiming the gold. She won the national titles at the Birmingham UK Indoor Championships and Manchester UK Championships, as well as the gold at the Internationales Hochsprungmeeting and the silver at the Paavo Nurmi Games. Morgan Lake competed at the Budapest World Athletics Championships, where remained 4th with 197cm and finished 7th at the Istanbul European Athletics Indoor Championships. At the Diamond League, she finished 4th in Lausanne, 5th in Rabat, Paris, Chorzow, and Brusssels and 7th in Monaco, while at the Diamond League Final in Eugene remained 5th.

Morgan Lake competed at her third Olympics in 2024 in Paris. However, she did not reach the final after clearing only 188cm in the qualifications. During the season she finished 6th at the both – Roma European Athletics Championships and Glasgow World Athletics Indoor Championships. Meanwhile, she won the high jump gold at the Meeting de L’Eure and Brnenska Latka Olympia, silver at the Internationales Hochsprungmeeting Heilbronn, as well as bronze at the BKK Freundenburg High Jump Meeting. Morgan Lake again dominated the national championships, winning the titles at the Birmingham UK Indoor Championships and Manchester UK Championships. At the Diamond League, she finished 4th in Rabat/Marrakech, 7th in Doha, 9th in Paris.

Morgan Lake started the 2025 season by winning the gold at the Goteborg Full Moon Jump, Meeting de L’Eure, and Birmingham UK Indoor Championships. At the Apeldoorn European Athletics Indoor Championships, she again qualified for the finals, but narrowly missed the honors by finishing 5th with 192cm.
