
Conor Kelly won the 400m title at the Tampere European Athletics U20 Championships
Irish athletics talent Conor Kelly won the 400m title at the Tampere European Athletics U20 Championships. Conor Kelly won gold in a new national U20 record of 45.83 sec. French athlete Milann Klemenic took silver in 46.44 sec, while Ondrej Loupal of Czech Republic was third in 46.62 sec.
The Top 5 in the event were completed by Melvyn Cavagnoux (France) and Matthew Galea Soler (Malta), who missed the podium.
In the women’s 400m, Charlotte Henrich won the European U20 title with a personal best of 51.68 sec, followed by Germany’s Johanna Martin in 52.00 sec and Poland’s Anastazja Kus in 52.23 sec.
Jana Marie Becker (Germany) won the women’s 800m gold, clocking 2:01.67 min. The silver was for Ziva Remic (Slovenia) with 2:01.76 min and the bronze was for Lorenza de Noni (Italy) with 2:01.86 min. In men’s 800m, Rafferty Mirfin (Great Britain) won the gold, while his compatriot Tom Waterworth remained second and the Spanish runner Aaron Ceballos was third.
