
Ditaji Kambundji won the women’s 100m hurdles title in Tokyo
Ditaji Kambundji (Switzerland) won the world title in the 100m hurdles at the Tokyo Championships. The Swiss athlete broke her country’s national record for the gold medal, finishing in 12.24 sec (-0.1 m/s). World record holder Tobi Amusan (Nigeria) took silver this time in 12.29 sec, while Grace Stark (USA) won bronze in 12.34 sec.
Paris 2024 Olympics champion Masai Russell (USA) finished fourth in 12.44 sec.
Polish #athletics talent Pia Skrzyszowska finished fifth, clocking 12.49 sec.
Ditaji Kambundji is a Swiss athlete who specializes in sprint hurdles. She secured a bronze medal in the 100m hurdles at the 2022 European Championships and another bronze in the 60m hurdles at the 2023 European Indoor Championships.
Ditaji Kambundji was crowned the 100m hurdles champion at the 2021 European under-20 championships and the 2023 European U23 championships. She participated in the event at the postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympics, which took place in 2021. Additionally, she holds the Swiss indoor record for the 60 m hurdles and the outdoor record for the 100 m hurdles. Furthermore, she is a six-time national champion.
