Dominic Lobalu is the star of Team Switzerland for the European Cross-Country Championship
Switzerland has announced a 22-strong squad to represent the country at the European Cross Country Championships in Lagoa, Portugal, on December 14, 2025. The most prominent name in the Swiss team is the current European 10,000m champion Dominic Lobalu, who will be making his debut at the continental cross country championships.
Switzerland has not won a medal in any event at the championships since 2019, when Julien Wanders won bronze in the men’s event. However, Dominic Lobalu has the potential to follow in his footsteps if he can transfer his excellent form from the track and road races to cross country.
Dominic Lobalu is joined on the senior men’s team by experienced Morgan Le Guen, who finished eighth in the 5,000m at the 2024 European Athletics Championships in Rome.
Switzerland will also send teams for the mixed relay, as well as for both the junior and women’s under-20 events. The U20 squad includes Shirin Kerber, who finished eighth in the same age group in Antalya last year.
