
Dutch hurdler Nadine Visser
Nadine Visser is a Dutch track and field athlete who competes in hurdles. She initially focused on the heptathlon but later shifted her focus to hurdles, running 60m hurdles indoors and 100m hurdles outdoors.
Nadine Visser is World Indoor bronze medalist and two-time European Indoor champion in 60m hurdles, as well as World University Games winner, European U23 champion, as well as 15-time national champion. She is also three-time Diamond League winner and national record holder in 100m hurdles, 60m hurdles, 50m hurdles, and 4x100m relay.
Born on February 9, 1995, in Hoorn, Netherlands, Nadine Visser’s early sports included gymnastics and football. She started competing in athletics at age 13.
In 2011, she represented the Netherlands at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Trabzon, winning gold medals in both the 100m hurdles and the 4x100m relay.
In the 2014 indoor season, Nadine Visser set Dutch junior records in both the 60m hurdles and the pentathlon. She competed at the 2014 World Junior Championships in Eugene, earning bronze medals in the 100m hurdles and heptathlon. In 2015, she participated in the European U23 Championships in Tallinn and took home bronze in the 100m hurdles. That same year, she also finished third in the heptathlon at the Decastar meet in Talence, France.
In 2016, Nadine Visser competed with the Dutch Olympic team in Rio. She finished 19th in the Heptathlon with 6,190 points.
The following year, she claimed gold in the 100m hurdles at the European U23 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland. She repeated her success with another gold at the Universiade in Taipei, Taiwan. That year, her top moment in the heptathlon was earning silver at the Mehrkampf-Meeting in Ratingen, Germany.
In 2018, Nadine Visser made a major breakthrough finishing third and taking the bronze at the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham, in the 60m hurdles. She also placed fourth at the European Championships in Berlin, Germany, in the 100m hurdles. That season, she started competing in the Diamond League, also in 100m hurdles.
Her first big win came in 2019, when she took gold at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, in the 60m hurdles.
By 2021, Nadine Visser had defended her European Indoor title in the same event. She also took gold at the IFAM Meeting in Ghent for the 60m hurdles and at the Brussels Grand Prix in the 100m hurdles. During that year, she earned two silver medals and one bronze in Diamond League events.
Nadine Visser continue competing in top level in 2022, winning the 60m hurdles gold at the ISTAF Indoor Dusseldorf and 100m hurdles bronze at the Paavo Nurmi Games. She won the 100m hurdles national title at the Apeldoorn Dutch Championships and finished 4th at the Munich European Athletics Championships, but also competed at the Diamond League events in Roma, Stockholm, and Lausanne, as well as the final in Brussels.
In 2023, Nadine Visser won the 60m hurdles silver at the Istanbul European Athletics Indoor Championships and won another national title in 100m hurdles. She won the silver at the FBK Games in Hengelo and Czech Indoor Gala, as well as the gold at the Meeting de Paris.
Nadine Visser qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics in 100m hurdles and made a fanastic performance during the qualifications and semis, to reach the big final, where finished 4th in 12.43 sec. Although missing the honor at the Olympics, earlier she won the bronze at the Roma European Athletics Championships. Meanwhile, she won the 60m hurdles gold at the Apeldoorn Dutch Indoor Championships and ORLEN Copernicus Cup, as well as the 100m hurdles gold at the Gouden Spike in Leiden, Atleticageneve – EAP in Geneve, and the silver at the prestigious Paavo Nurmi Games in Turku and Czech Indoor Gala.
Nadine Visser started the 2025 season by winning the 60m hurdles gold at the Belgrade Indoor Meeting, the silver at the Meeting Metz Moselle Athlelor, and the bronze at the ORLEN Copernicus Cup, before triumphing with another national title at the Apeldoorn Dutch Indoor Championships and the silver at the Apeldoorn European Athletics Indoor Championships. At the Nanjing World Athletics Indoor Championships she finished 6th in the final. During the outdoor season, she started with 100m hurdles silver at the Meeting International Mohammed VI d’Athletisme de Rabat and the gold at the FBK Games in Hengelo. At the Diamond League’s BAUHAUS-Galan in Stockholm and Meeting International d’Athletisme Herculis EBS in Moncao she earned the bronze.
