Eliud Kipchoge focused on his good performance at the London Marathon
Marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge has said he is fully focused on doing well at the London Marathon on April 27, despite speculation about his future continuing to mount.
The two-time Olympic marathon champion is returning to the familiar course for the first time in five years and is bidding for a fifth title in the British capital. Ever since the five-time Berlin Marathon champion announced he would be returning, stakeholders and fans have questioned Eliud Kipchoge’s longevity at the 26.1-mile distance.
Asked if his sixth attempt at London could be the finale of his storied career, Eliud Kipchoge told: “I don’t like to mix things up. I’m learning to put my whole mind on the road, to put my whole mind on making sure my muscles are ready to tackle the streets of London. And the rest will come”.
Eliud Kipchoge is a two-time Olympic champion in the marathon, triumphing in Rio de Janeiro 2016 and Tokyo 2020. Also he has silver from Beijing 2008 and bronze from Athens 2004, both in 5,000m. Eliud Kipchoge is also World champion and silver medalist, as World Indoor Championships bronze medalist.
