
Elvin Josue Canales set a new indoor national record at 800m event in Luxembourg
Spanish athlete Elvin Josue Canales moved up to sixth in the all-time European men’s 800m indoor ranking. He won the 800m event in Luxembourg yesterday in 1:44.65 min. The event was part of the World Athletics Indoor Tour with a “Silver Label”.
Elvin Josue Canales, 23, was born in Honduras but was allowed to compete for Spain last year.
The previous Spanish indoor 800m record was 1:45.12 min by Mariano Garcia.
There was another record in Luxembourg in women’s 1,500m. Marta Zenoni won in 4:03.59 min, breaking Italy’s record set by Gabriella Dorio in 1982 (4:04.01 min).
Angelica Moser set a new meeting record, winning the pole vault event with 4.65m, while Patrizia Van der Weken won the 60m with a new national indoor record of 7.07sec.
German athlete Florian Bremm won the 3,000m in a new meeting record of 7:39.01 min.
