Former half marathon world record holder Kibiwott Kandie was suspended

Former half marathon world record holder Kibiwott Kandie has been provisionally suspended by the Athletics Federation of India for refusing or failing to provide a sample for testing.

Kibiwott Kandie set a world record in the Valencia Half Marathon in 2020 when he won the event. He will also win the same race in Valencia in 2023.

Earlier this year, the Kenyan announced that he was aiming to break the late Kelvin Kiptum’s marathon world record in Valencia, which will be held on December 7 this year.

Kibiwott Kandie has a personal best in the marathon of 2:06:46 hours from Berlin 2024, where he finished 13th.
