Four world medalists to compete in high jump in Xiamen Diamond League

Four global championship medalists will face off in the women’s high jump at the second round of the Diamond League season in Xiamen on May 23.

The 2022 world champion Eleanor Patterson will compete against fellow Olympic bronze medalist Iryna Gerashchenko, world silver medalist Maria Zodzik and world indoor silver medalist Yuliya Levchenko. The competition will bring together three of the world’s top six athletes in the event.

Australia’s Eleanor Patterson shared bronze with Ukraine’s Iryna Gerashchenko at the 2024 Paris Olympics, while Maria Zodzik and Yuliya Levchenko won silver medals at the world outdoor and indoor championships in recent months.

Polish high jumper Maria Zodzik recorded her first Diamond League victory last season in Lausanne, where she outlasted both Eleanor Patterson and eventual series champion Nicola Olyslagers.
