
Hamish Kerr won the high jump gold at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo
Paris 2024 Olympic high jump champion Hamish Kerr added a world outdoor gold to his collection of medals. The New Zealander won an extremely interesting competition with a new world best result for the season of 236cm. Hamish Kerr was the only one to clear this height, and he did it on his first attempt.
Indoor world champion Woo Sang-hyeok (South Korea) remained with the silver medal at 234cm. The Korean and the New Zealander were in first place with equal figures up to 234cm, but in the end, Hamish Kerr showed character and secured the gold medal.
Czech Jan Stefela brought joy to Europe after fighting for bronze with 23c1m. Ukrainian Oleh Doroshchuk remained fourth with the same result.
The Top 5 was completed by JuVaughn Harrison with 228cm.
Hamish Kerr secured the gold medal in the men’s high jump at the 2024 Paris Olympics. At the World Indoor Championships, he achieved gold in 2024, following a bronze medal win in 2022. Additionally, he claimed gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Hamish Kerr shares the Oceanian record and is the sole holder of the Oceanian indoor record.
