Kishane Thompson beats Noah Lyles in men’s 100m at the Silesia Diamond League, getting revenge from the Paris 2024 Olympics and hinting for the big battle at the upcoming Tokyo World Athletics Championships in September.
The Jamaican sprinter Kishane Thompson finished in 9.87 sec to secure the gold at the Silesia Kamila Skolimowska Memorial, ahead by just 0.03 sec to Noah Lyles (USA), who grabbed the silver. Kenny Bednarek (USA) finished third, clocking 9.96 sec.
The Top 5 in the event were completed by two more American sprinters – Christian Coleman and Trayvon Bromell, both clocking under 10 sec.
In women’s 100m event, Paris 2024 Olympics bronze medalist Melissa Jefferson-Wooden (USA) grabbed the gold, finishing in 10.66 sec. The silver was for Tia Clayton (Jamaica) and the bronze went to two-time World Championships medalist and is the African record holder Marie Josee Ta Lou-Smith. Tina Clayton and Jacious Sears completed the Top 5, followed by Sha’Carri Richardson, Dina Asher-Smith, and Ewa Swoboda had disappointing results.
Shericka Jackson won the gold in women’s 200m, followed by Brittany Brown and Favour Ofili, who earned the silver and bronze, respectively.
The Paris 2024 Olympics silver medalist Marileidy Paulino earned the women’s 400m gold. Salwa Eid Naser (Bahrain) won the silver in the event and Henriette Jaeger (Norway) finished third.
