
Kishane Thompson will make his indoor debut in Astana
Paris 2024 Olympic 100m silver medalist Kishane Thompson will make his indoor debut at the World Athletics Tour Gold Label event in Astana, Kazakhstan, on January 25.
The 23-year-old Jamaican athlete will start in the 60m sprint. Kishane Thompson has never competed indoors before. He has a personal best of 6.67 sec in the 60m, set at an outdoor event in 2022.
He last competed at the Paris Olympics last year, where he finished second in the 100m in 9.79 sec. Kishane Thompson has a personal best of 9.77 sec in the 100m at the Jamaican Championships last June.
Tokyo 200m champion Andre De Grasse will also be competing in Astana, having clocked 6.66 sec for his sixth-place finish in Kazakhstan last year.
The women’s 60m will feature Tia and Tina Clayton, Natasha Morrison, Anthonique Strachan and others.
Two-time world champion Chase Jackson will appear in the shot put, and Marquis Dendy will start in the long jump.
