
Letsile Tebogo will compete in 100m event at the Keqiao Diamond League
The Paris 2024 Olympic 200m champion Letsile Tebogo will compete in the 100m at the second Diamond League event of 2025 in Keqiao, China, on May 3rd. The Botswanan sprinter won five times in the event between July and September last year.
In 2025, the 21-year-old Letsile Tebogo will turn his attention to the 100m Diamond Trophy.
Letsile Tebogo achieved a historic milestone by winning the gold medal in the 200m at the Paris 2024 Olympics, marking the first Olympic gold medal for Botswana. Additionally, he secured a silver medal in the 100m at the 2023 World Championships, followed by a bronze medal in the 200m just five days later.
Earlier, Letsile Tebogo triumphed in the 100m and finished as the runner-up in the 200m at both the 2021 and 2022 World Athletics Under-20 Championships. He also claimed the title of 200m African champion in 2022, becoming the youngest athlete to achieve this honor in the event’s history. On February 17, 2024, he set a new world best for the 300m, completing the distance in 30.69 sec at altitude in Pretoria, South Africa. Since April 2022, Letsile Tebogo has held the world U20 record in the 100m and was the first man from Botswana to surpass the 10-second mark in this event.
Several other big names in athletics have already confirmed their participation in Keqiao, including Olympic champions and world record holders in their respective disciplines, Yaroslava Mahuchikh (high jump) and Karsten Warholm (400m hurdles).
