
Lithuanian javelin thrower Liveta Jasiunaite
Liveta Jasiunaite is an athlete from Lithuania who specializes in the javelin throw event. She earned a bronze medal at the 2018 European Athletics Championships. Additionally, she has participated in several significant championships, including the Olympic Games in 2020 and 2024. Liveta Jasiunaite currently holds the record for javelin throw in Lithuania. She is European Team Championships, European Championships, and European U23 Championships bronze medalist, World University Games champion, and 10-time national champion.
Liveta Jasiunaite was born on July 26, 1994. She started in athletics at an early age and attended Lithuanian Sports University (LSU).
Liveta Jasiunaite started her competitive career in 2010, winning the javelin throw gold at the Siauliai Lithuanian U18 Championships, and the silver at the Jekabpils Javelin Throw Meeting and Kaunas LTU-EST-LAT U18 Match. During the season she also debuted at the senior national championships at the Kaunas Lithuanian Championships, finishing 6th with 43.76m.
In 2011, Liveta Jasiunaite won the silver at the Trabzon 11th European Youth Olympic Festival in Trabzon with a personal best of 52.00m. She also competed at the Lille IAAF World Youth Championships, but with modest 46.32m did not overcome the qualifications.
Liveta Jasiunaite started the 2012 season by winning the bronze at the Palanga Lithuanian Winter Throwing Championships and continue with silver at the Kaunas City Championships and the gold at the Kaunas Lithuanian Club Championships. She finished 5th at the Valmiera President’s Cup in Valmiera and Mannheim Bauhaus Junioren-Gala in Mannheim. Liveta Jasiunaite won the gold at the Alytus Lithuanian Junior Championships and competed at the Barcelona IAAF World Junior Championship, finishing 8th in the final. She ended the season by winning the silver at the Karksi-Nuia EST-LAT-LTU Throwing Match.
In 2013, Liveta Jasiunaite continue improving her skills and gaining experience in international events. During the season she won her first senior national title at the Siauliai Lithuanian Championships and finished 9th at the Rieti European Junior Championships. Meanwhile, she won the gold at the Kaunas Lithuanian Club Championships and Alytus Lithuanian Junior Championships, as well as the silver at the Riga City Championships and the bronze at the Alytus Baltic Throwing Match.
Liveta Jasiunaite covered the 55-meter mark twice in 2014, setting a personal best of 55.51m at the Kaunas Lithuanian Club Championships, where finished second. Meanwhile, she won the gold at the Valmiera Baltic Throwing Meeting, and finished 4th at the Valmiera President’s Cup in Valmiera and Copenhagen Nordic-Baltic U23 Championships.
In 2015, Liveta Jasiunaite won her most prestigious international honor so far, winning the bronze at the Tallinn European U23 Championships and improved her personal best of 55.77m. She won another bronze at the Karksi-Nuia Baltic Throwing Meeting and finished second at the Palanga Lithuanian Championships, as well as 4th at the Jelgava Jana Lusa Cup.
Liveta Jasiunaite started the 2016 season by winning the gold at the Palanga Lithuanian Winter Throwing Championships, Tampere SELL Students Games, and Kaunas Lithuanian University Championships, where cleared 61.32m for personal best. Then she earned the gold at the prestigious Mersin ECCC Group A with 58.49m and triumphed with another national title at the Palanga Lithuanian Championships with 57.06m. Liveta Jasiunaite competed at the Amsterdam European Athletics Championships and finished 12th in the final. She ended the season by winning the bronze at the Padova Meeting Citta Di Padova and finishing 5th at the Joensuu Games and 8th at the Espoo Nordic-Baltic U23 Championships.
In 2017, Liveta Jasiunaite finished 6th at the Las Palmas European Throwing Cup, 4th in the Halle Werfertage and Riga Cup, and won the silver at the Valmiera Baltic Throwing Match. She finished 5th at the European Athletics Team Championships Second League and earned her third national title at the Palanga Lithuanian Championships. Liveta Jasiunaite had two major international tournaments – London IAAF World Championships in Athletics and Taipei Universiade, but did not earned a honor.
Liveta Jasiunaite won her most prestigiour international senior honor in 2018, winning the bronze at the Berlin European Athletics Championships with 61.59m. Earlier she won the title at the Palanga Lithuanian Championships. During the season she covered the 61-meter mark four times with season’s and new personal best of 61.61m.
In 2019, Liveta Jasiunaite started the season by winning the gold at the Lithuanian Winter Throwing Championships, and the bronze at the Osaka Seiko Golden Grand Prix. She continue by winning the gold medals Utena LLAF Cup and Ogre Baltic Team Championships, where improved her personal best and set a national record of 63.98m. Her biggest achievement for the season was winning the gold at the Napoli Universiade. Liveta Jasiunaite continue the year by winning another national title at the Palanga Lithuanian Championships and the silver at the Palio Citta della Quercia in Rovereto, Italy. She ended the season by competing at the Doha IAAF World Championships in Athletics, but did not overcome the qualifications.
Liveta Jasiunaite continue performing strong in 2020 season, although it was shorted and hampered by the coronavirus pandemic. During the year, she won another national title at the Palanga Lithuanian Championships and finished 4th at the Ogre Baltic Team Championships. She won the gold at the local Vilnius LLAF Discus and Javelin Throw Cup and Birstonas Throwing Cup.
In 2021, Liveta Jasiunaite made her Olympics debut, qualifying for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where finished 7th in the final. She won the gold at the Stara Zagora European Athletics Team Championships Second League and another national title at the Palanga Lithuanian Championships. Meanwhile, she won the gold at the Hungarian Athletics Grand Prix’s Gyulai Istvan Memorial and Birstonas Throwing Cup, the silver at the Hungarian GP Series Tatabánya, and the bronze at the Kladno hazi a Kladenske Memorialy. At the end of the season, she made her debut in Diamond League, finishing 4th in Bern and 7th in Rovereto.
In 2022, Liveta Jasiunaite continue with her strong performance and good results, competing at the high rated championships in the athletics calendar. She started the season by winning the gold at the Palanga Lithuanian Long Throwing Championships and LAF Open Cup Competition, as well as the silver at the Hallesche Werfertage in Halle and Leiden Gouden Spike. Liveta Jasiunaite won her first Diamond League’s honor at Meeting de Paris, finishing 3rd with 62.09m. By the end of the season she won another Diamond League’s bronze at the Silesia Kamila Skolimowska Memorial in Chorzow and competed in the Diamond League’s Final Weltklasse Zurich, where remained 7th. Meanwhile, she won the national title at the Siauliai Lithuanian Championships, finished 10th in the Eugene World Athletics Championships and 6th at the Munich European Athletics Championships.
Liveta Jasiunaite started the 2023 season by winning the bronze at the USATF Throws Festival – Tucson Elite Classic and the gold at the Kaunas LAF Open Cup Competition and SK Cosma Summer Cup, finished 4th at the Diamond League’s Meeting de Paris and 6th at the Athletissima Lausanne. She won the bronze at the Valmiera Baltic Team Championships and competed at the Budapest World Athletics Championships, but failed to reach the final. She competed at the Diamond League’s Final Eugene Prefontaine Classic, finishing 5th.
In 2024, Liveta Jasiunaite earned the gold at the Lithuanian Long Throws Championships, LAF Open Cup Competition, Palanga Lithuanian Championships, and Baltic Team Championships President’s Cup, as well as the bronze at the Motonet GP Kuortane. She competed at the Roma European Athletics Championships and Paris 2024 Olympics, but did not overcome the qualifications.
Liveta Jasiunaite started the 2025 season at the Wanda Diamond League Xiamen, finishing 8th. She won the silver at the 71. ORLEN Janusz Kusocinski Memorial in Chorzow, the bronze at the Kladno hazi a Kladenske memorialy, and the gold at the COSMA Cup World Athletics Continental Tour. At the JOHVI 2025 – Heino Lipp memorial she won the silver, while at the European Athletics Team Championships First Division in Madrid won the bronze.
