
Mark English will miss the Nanjing World Athletics Indoor Championships due to illness
Mark English will miss the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China, from March 21-23 due to illness. The Irish middle-distance runner won a bronze medal at the European Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn earlier this month.
“Unfortunately I will not be competing at the World Championships in Nanjing. I have been dealing with illness since the European Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn. For me personally this is a huge disappointment, but I want to wish the team and my teammates who will be travelling well”, wrote Mark English on Instagram.
Mark English is an Irish middle-distance runner. He represented Ireland at the Rio 2016 Olympics In March 2019, English won a bronze medal in the 800m at the 2019 European Athletics Indoor Championships and later same season won the 800m at the Birmingham 2019 Diamond League.
In August 2022, Mark English won a bronze medal in the 800m at the 2022 European Athletics Championships in Munich.
European long jump champion Bozhidar Saraboyukov will also not compete in China due to illness.
