Molly Caudery attacks her first World’s pole vault gold

Athletics News . Pole Vault News Article

Molly Caudery will represent Great Britain in the pole vault at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, which begin next Saturday (September 13). Molly Caudery, 25, will be competing in her second world championships, having finished fifth in Budapest, Hungary, two years ago.

She won the world indoor title in Glasgow in 2024, as well as a bronze medal at the European Championships in Rome, Italy. However, she suffered an disappointment at the Paris 2024 Paris, failing to reach the final after three unsuccessful attempts at 4.55m.

Molly Caudery, however, comes into the competition in good form, having finished fourth at the World Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China, earlier this year, and came second at the Diamond League tournament in Brussels in August, behind only two-time world champion Katie Moon of the United States.

“The season was a bit difficult, I had a few ups and downs, so it’s good that I’m getting into shape now”, said Molly Caudery to reporters. Asked if she felt ready to challenge for world gold, she added: “I’m so ready and that’s why I actually feel quite disappointed today – but I don’t think it’s a bad emotion. I know I can do more and I just have to show it, and that’s a good position. I learned so much last year. I’m going into the Worlds with a different perspective than I did at the Olympics and I think that’s probably a good thing”.
