
Narve Gilje Nordas named in Team Norway for the European Running Championships
World silver medalist in the 1,500m, Narve Gilje Nordas, has been named to Team Norway for the European Running Championships in Brussels-Leuven on April 12-13.
Nordas, who also finished seventh in the 1,500m Olympic final in Paris, set a personal best of 27:33 min over 10km in Valencia in January. He will compete in the same distance in Belgium.
Narve Gilje Nordas achieved a personal best in the 5000m at an event in Heusden in July 2023, where he improved his previous record by over ten seconds, clocking in at 13:05.38 min, which secured his qualification for the World Championships in Budapest. At the 2023 World Athletics Championships, he claimed the bronze medal in the 1,500m, finishing behind competitors Josh Kerr and Jakob Ingebrigtsen. On June 2, 2024, he triumphed in the men’s 3,000m at the Stockholm leg of the Diamond League.
Team Norway will consist of seven members, including Awet Nftalem Kibrab, who will take on the half marathon. Nftalem Kibrab was eighth over 5km at the World Road Running Championships in Riga, Latvia in 2023.
