
Noah Lyles won the men’s 200m event at the Monaco Diamond League
American sprinter Noah Lyles won the men’s 200m event at the Monaco Diamond League, clocking at 19.88 sec. This was his first appearance in the event in nearly a year. Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo of Botswana was second (19.97 sec), and Makanakaishe Charamba of Zimbabwe was third (19.99 sec).
In women’s 100m sprint, Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia triumphed with the gold, clocking at 10.79 sec. She overtook American athletics talent Jacious Sears (11.02 sec) and New Zealander Zoe Hobbs (11.12).
The men’s 3,000m steeplechase witnessed a strong run, with Moroccan Soufiane El Bakkali winning in 8:03.18 min. The Japanese Ryuji Miura was second in 8:03.43 min, setting a national record, and Kenyan Edmund Serem was third in 8:04.00 min.
Dutch hurdler Femke Bol set a world-best time of the season in the 400m hurdles, 51.95 sec, winning the gold in the event. The silver was for American athlete Dalilah Muhammad and the bronze went to another American – Anna Cockrell.
Jamaican athlete Megan Tapper tied her personal best (12.34 sec) to win the 100m hurdles. Ditaji Kambundji of Switzerland finished second, while Nadine Visser was third.
The next start of the Diamond League is on July 19 in London.
