Olympic medalists will go into a 800m and long jump battle at the Eugene Diamond League
All six medalists from the Paris 2024 Olympics in the women’s 800m and long jump will compete at the Eugene Diamond League on July 5.
Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson will face Tsige Duguma and Mary Moraa in the 800m, while Olympic gold medalist Tara Davis-Woodhall will face Malaika Mihambo and Jasmine Moore in the long jump.
British middle-distance runner Keely Hodgkinson and her Kenian opponent Mary Moraa each have two Diamond trophies in their careers. Two-time world silver medalist Keely Hodgkinson secured the trophies in 2021 and 2023, while Mary Moraa secured the trophies in 2022 and 2024. Tsige Duguma, who failed to reach the final at the World Athletics Indoor Championship in China a few days ago, still is purchasing her first Diamond League honor after debuting last year.
German long jumper Malaika Mihambo is a two-time world champion and Olympic gold medalist from Tokyo 2020 Games. She hopes to win her second Diamond Trophy in 2025, while her opponent Tara Davis-Woodhall won her first Diamond League gold in Rome last season.
