American talent Quincy Wilson has broken his own 400m record, clocking a world-best 44.10 sec in a race in Memphis.
The 17-year-old Quincy Wilson had held the world record for the Under-18 event since last year. After running 44.20 sec a year ago, he improved his mark by 10-hundredths of a second, beating compatriot Bryce Deadmon and setting the world’s fourth-fastest time of the year.
The student became the youngest American to compete at the Paris Olympics last year when he won a gold medal in the 4×400-meter relay with the US team, taking part in the heats.
He has been in excellent form three weeks before the US team is selected for the world championships in Tokyo, which will be held from September 13 to 21.
