Renowned Jamaican coach Glen Mills enjoys his work with Tobi Amusan
Renowned Jamaican coach Glen Mills, who trained the sprinting legends Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake, has revealed his excitement about working with 100m hurdles world record holder and 2022 world champion Tobi Amusan. The Nigerian star, who was previously coached by Jamaican Olympian Lacena Golding-Clarke, has been secretly training in Jamaica under Glen Mills since September.
Glen Mills, who has guided Usain Bolt to unprecedented success, including world records in the 100m and 200m, eight Olympic gold medals and 11 world championship titles between 2008 and 2016 – expressed admiration for Tobi Amusan’s professionalism and dedication.
“It was a pleasure working with her because she is a true professional. She brings to the table an approach that is really refreshing. People think I don’t train women, but I have experience with a lot. I had Olympic gold medalist Aleen Bailey, as well as people like Olympic medalist Kerron Stewart”, said Glen Mills.
Tobi Amusan, the world champion in the 100-meter hurdles and world record holder with a time of 12.12 seconds, impressed Mills with her conscientious attitude and work ethic.
“She works very hard, she’s very conscientious, and I understand why she’s a world record holder. We talk about our strategies every now and then. It’s been a good experience; she’s into it and enjoying it. I’ve already seen improvement and she’s excited because she feels like she’s making more progress”, said also Glen Mills.
