Three fastest 400m hurdlers will face in Oslo and Stockholm
The three fastest men in 400m hurdles history will meet twice in three days at the Diamond League in Oslo and Stockholm next month.
Karsten Warholm, Rai Benjamin and Alison dos Santos will first compete in the 300m hurdles at the Bislet Games in Oslo on June 12. They will then renew their rivalry in the 400m hurdles on June 15 at the BAHUAS-Galan in Stockholm.
American athlete Rai Benjamin is an Olympic champion, while Norwegian Karsten Warholm is a world record holder and three-time world champion, and Brazilian Alison dos Santos is the 2022 world champion.
Karsten Warholm set the world record of 45.94 sec when he won Olympic gold in Tokyo, while Rai Benjamin is second on the all-time list with 46.17 sec from the same event. Alison dos Santos clocked 46.29 sec to win his world title in Oregon, and the three athletes hold the 18th fastest time of all time.
“It’s going to be a fantastic weekend with the 300m hurdles in Oslo on Thursday and then the 400m hurdles in Stockholm on Sunday, both events featuring the three fastest men of all time”, said Rai Benjamin. “It’s the first time I’ve competed in these two historic events, which makes it even more exciting. What more could you ask for?”, added he.
The Oslo event will see the trio meet in the 300m hurdles for the first time, and Karsten Warholm is in excellent form after setting a world record of 33.05 seconds for the event at the Diamond League season opener in Xiamen last month.
“I’m looking forward to the race”, said Karsten Warholm. “It’s even more exciting and fun when the best compete in the same race”, added he.
