Yaroslava Mahuchikh: Today Nicola was better than me
World record holder in the high jump Yaroslava Mahuchikh was defeated by Nicola Olyslagers for the second time this year. After defending her world indoor title in Nanjing in the winter, the Australian athlete again earned the gold at the Diamond League in Stockholm today with 2.01m to the Ukrainian’s 1.99m.
Yaroslava Mahuchikh acknowledged the superiority of her rival tonight.
“It was a great atmosphere here with a lot of Ukrainians and a lot of loud support, which is great for me. Today Nicola (Olyslagers) was better than me, but that’s good because we have a great relationship with each other on the ski jump. We all get along well and help each other. We never know who will win on the day, but it’s always fun”, said the Ukrainian high jumper.
Yaroslava Mahuchikh admired the atmosphere of the BAUHAUS-Galan Diamond League meeting in Stockholm.
“It’s interesting to watch us because it’s fun. It’s such a cool atmosphere when someone jumps well. We all train together, so we’re friends and competitors. My next trip is to Paris, where I have great memories from the Olympics”, said also Yaroslava Mahuchikh.
