Yaroslava Mahuchikh: We should respect every gold
The world record holder in the high jump and European indoor champion from Apeldoorn this winter, Yaroslava Mahuchikh, won a bronze medal at the 2025 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing after clearing 1.95m. For the second year in a row, the world indoor title was won by Australian athlete Nicola Olyslagers with 1.97m.
“I think we should respect every gold because as an athlete I know how much it takes. They are doing amazing there. Coming from the European Indoor Championships, I had a slight injury. During today’s jumps I felt that 1.95m was not good, but I was sure that 1.97m would be great. So I started running, but I felt that my ankle was not good unfortunately”, said Yaroslava Mahuchikh. “I didn’t feel any pressure, I was just enjoying the atmosphere on the track and the competition. I will look forward to the outdoor season. Next month I will be back in China for the Diamond League and hopefully I will be better then”, added she after the final of the high jump event at the 2025 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing.
Yaroslava Mahuchikh is the women’s high jump world record holder. She won the gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics, 2023 World Championships and 2022 World Indoor Championships.
