Yusuf Bizimana won the men’s 800m at the 62° Palio Città della Quercia in Rovereto
Yusuf Bizimana produced one of the standout middle‑distance performances of the late‑season circuit at the 62° Palio Città della Quercia in Rovereto, held on September 8, dominating a high‑quality men’s 800m field with a superb 1:43.31. His victory was built on control, patience, and a decisive final 200 m that separated him from a tightly packed chasing group. Bizimana has been steadily rising through the European circuit, but this run — one of the fastest of his career — marked a clear statement of his ability to handle both pace and pressure in a championship‑style race.
Louey Ouerrat followed with an excellent 1:43.73, securing second place after committing early to the fast pace and refusing to yield in the final sprint. Ouerrat’s season has been defined by consistency and tactical sharpness, and Rovereto added another strong performance to his résumé. His ability to maintain form through the second lap kept him ahead of several athletes with stronger finishing kicks, underlining his growing maturity in major European meetings.
Poland’s Maciej Wyderka completed the podium with 1:43.79, delivering one of the most polished races of his season. Wyderka stayed composed through the opening lap, positioned himself well at the bell, and launched a determined final push that brought him within striking distance of Ouerrat. His third‑place finish, achieved in a tightly contested final straight, reflects both his improving race management and his ability to respond to surges at critical moments.
Just outside the podium, Abraham Alvarado clocked 1:45.01. The American athlete ran a disciplined race, staying close to the leaders through 600 m before losing contact in the final bend. Although he could not match the blistering closing speed of the top three, Alvarado’s fourth‑place finish remains a solid result in a field producing sub‑1:44 performances.
