Amos Kipruto and Hawi Feysa triumphed at the Chicago Marathon 2026
Kenyan runner Amos Kipruto won the men’s Chicago Marathon, while Ethiopia’s Hawi Feysa defended her women’s title.
Amos Kipruto clocked a personal best of 2:01.09 hours over the 42.195km course, moving her into fifth place on the all-time list. The 2022 London winner made a strong charge around the 35km mark to triumph in Chicago after finishing second in 2025 and third in 2024.
Amos Kipruto won by a huge margin of 1:47 min over Tadese Takele Bikila and 2:37 over Milkesa Mengesha, both of Ethiopia.
Defending champion Jacob Kiplimo of Uganda had to settle for fourth place.
The women’s race was far more dramatic, as Hawi Feysa held off two-time Boston and New York winner Sharon Lokedi of Kenya in the final meters to win, as she did last year. Hawi Feysa’s time of 2:13:13 hours was also a personal best, and she now ranks fifth on the all-time list.
Sharon Lokedi eventually finished second, finishing 34 seconds behind. Her compatriot Brigid Kosgei, the 2018 and 2019 winner, came in third, 1:22 behind Hawi Feysa.
More than 55,000 people took part in this year’s Chicago Marathon.
