
Abdul-Rasheed Saminu ran the 100m in sub-10-second at the Florida Relays
Ghanaian sprinter Abdul-Rasheed Saminu ran the 100m in sub-10-second at the Florida Relays. The 9.87-second time was, however, achieved in a stronger than permissible headwind (+2.2 m/s).
The 27-year-old Ghanaian holds a personal best in the 100m of 10.02 sec from 2024 NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships in Eugene. His personal best in 200m is 20.12 sec, also from the same tournament last year.
In April 2024, he also ran 100m in a sub-10-second time (9.95 sec), but with an even stronger headwind (+3.6 m/s).
Abdul-Rasheed Saminu is an African champion in 4x100m relay from Douala African Athletics Championships. In the same tournament he finished 4th in 200m. Abdul-Rasheed Saminu secured gold medals in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay events at the AAC Championships held in May 2024 in San Antonio, United States. He participated in the 100 meters at the 2024 Paris Olympics, advancing to the semi-finals. Additionally, he took part in the men’s 4x100m relay during the Games.
