
Ammar Ismail Yahia Ibrahim won the 400m gold at the Asian Athletics Championships in Gumi
Ammar Ismail Yahia Ibrahim produced a sensational performance to win Qatar’s first gold medal at the 26th Asian Athletics Championships in Gumi, South Korea.
The 28-year-old sprinter clocked 45.33 sec to win the men’s 400m title, beating Kentaro Sato of Japan (45.50 sec) and Kalinga Hewa Kamurage of Sri Lanka (45.55 sec). Vishal Thennarasu Kayalvizhi (India) and Fuga Sato (Japan), completed the Top 5.
Ammar Ismail Yahia Ibrahim continue with his sensational performance at the 26th Asian Athletics Championships, winning the gold at the 4x400m relay together with his teammates Abderrahman Samba, Bassem Hemeida, Hatim Ait Oulghazi. The silver in 4x400m relay went to India (Jay Kumar, Dharmveer Choudhary, Manu Thekkinalil Saji, Vishal Thennarasu Kayalvizhi), while the bronze was for China (Baotang Liang, Qining Zhang, Ailixier Wumaier, Haoran Fu).
In other events, Oumar Doudai Abakar set a national record in the 110m hurdles to advance to the final, while Ashraf Elseify placed fifth in the men’s hammer throw with 69.82m.
