Armand Duplantis won his fifth pole vault Diamond Trophy
The winner of all possible titles in athletics and the world record holder in the pole vault, Armand Duplantis, won the fifth Diamond Trophy of his career. The Swedish track and field athlete won the final tournament of the circuit in Zurich after clearing 6.00m. He cleared the height on his first attempt, doing the same with the heights of 5.50m and above. Tonight in Zurich, however, 6.10m proved to be too much for the young Swede, who has already won everything possible in his career.
The Greek national record holder in the pole vault, Emmanouil Karalis, continued his series of results over 6 meters and took second place with the same result as Duplantis, but remained second, having cleared the height on his third attempt.
The winner of two world titles, Sam Kendricks, came in third with 5.80m.
“Karalis is in really good form. Yeah, he was a lot better than me. I’m so proud of myself, I love myself, it was super fun today. I have no idea how many times I’ve jumped over 6 meters. 118 – oh, that’s really special, I shouldn’t take it for granted. Time flies so fast. Today I’m human, I don’t break world records every day, there are days when I feel good and days when I feel bad. Today I felt somewhere in the middle”, said Armand Duplantis after the victory. “A street event like today – I love it. They should build a structure like that in the middle of the stadium. I love jumping, I love competing and it helps our sport. I have five Diamond Trophies now, Renaud Lavigne has seven, so I’m getting closer. I’m not going to Stockholm to train and then to Fukaku with the Swedish federation”, added the pole vault world record holder.
