
Armand Duplantis won the pole vault gold at the ISTAF Indoor tournament in Berlin with new meeting record
The big star in the pole vault, Armand Duplantis, has started 2025 in a fantastic way. The Olympic, world and European champion and world record holder in the discipline won the ISTAF Indoor tournament in Berlin with a new meeting record of 6.10m.
The Swedish athlete is trying to improve his own world record after twice attacking 6.27m, but without success.
Olympic medalist Emmanouil Karalis came second in the pole vault with 5.94m, and the German pole vaulter Oleg Zernikel came third with 5.70m.
“It was a good start to the season. I think everyone’s energy here really helped me”, said Armand Duplantis after the competition in Berlin.
Armand Duplantis, commonly referred to as Mondo Duplantis, is widely acknowledged as the preeminent pole vaulter in history. He holds the current world records for both outdoor (6.26m) and indoor (6.22m) events. Duplantis is a two-time Olympic champion, having secured gold medals in both the 2020 and 2024 Games, as well as a two-time World champion in outdoor events (2022 and 2023) and an indoor champion.
From February 8, 2020, to February 14, 2025, he has successfully cleared heights of 6.10m or more on 25 occasions, with 17 of those performances occurring outdoors and eight indoors.
The competition in Germany was watched by 12,000 people.
