Arshad Nadeem is among injured Pakistani athletes weeks before the World Championships
Pakistani athletics has been hit by a series of injuries to its top athletes just weeks before the World Championships in Tokyo, which will be held from September 13-21. The javelin throwing star Arshad Nadeem has been sidelined with knee, elbow and calf injuries but is currently in England for rehabilitation and training. He is looking to represent Pakistan on the world stage, where more than 2,000 athletes from 200 countries will compete.
Arshad Nadeem is the current champion of the Olympic, Asian, and Commonwealth Games, as well as the silver medalist at the World Athletics Championship. His throw of 92.97m during the Paris 2024 Olympics not only set an Olympic and Asian record but also ranks as the sixth longest throw in javelin history, considering only the best throw from each athlete.
Meanwhile, the sprinting sensation Shajar Abbas is currently recovering from a stress fracture in the tibia, while 100m record holder Tameen Khan has suffered a serious thigh injury. Doctors have recommended at least two weeks of rest for Tameen Khan, ruling her out of the championships.
