
Asmir Kolasinac ended his career at his home Gold Label’s Belgrade Indoor Meeting
Tears and a lot of emotion accompanied the last competition in the career of the European indoor champion in the shot put from Gothenburg 2013, Asmir Kolasinac. The 40-year-old Serbian athlete ended his career at the World Athletics Tour Gold Label’s Belgrade Indoor Meeting.
Asmir Kolasinac finished fifth in his last competition with 19.49m, and the victory was won by the American Roger Steen with 20.94 m.
Yesterday in Belgrade, Asmir Kolasinac’s result and ranking were of no importance. Even when the competitors were introduced in the shot put and the announcer said that this would be his last competition, tears flowed from the eyes of the strongman and emotion overcame him until the end of the competition. Many relatives and friends had come to respect Asmir Kolasinac’s last start, and rivals in the sector also demonstrated their respect for the 40-year-old veteran.
In his career, Asmir Kolasinac has a European indoor title in Gothenburg 2013, silver at the European Indoor Championships in Prague 2015 and bronze at the European Outdoor Championships in Helsinki in 2012.
The Serb has participated in four Olympics, with his best finish coming in London 2012, where he finished seventh in the final.
