
Camryn Rogers won hammer throw world gold and moved up to second in the all-time rankings
Canadian athlete Camryn Rogers moved up to second in the all-time hammer throw world rankings with a result of 80.51m to defend her title at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
The 26-year-old athlete, who also won the Olympic title in Paris, is now second to Anita Wlodarczyk in the all-time rankings. Camryn Rogers came within 34cm of Anita Wlodarczyk’s championship record with the North American record she set on her second attempt in Tokyo.
She followed up her feat with three more throws over 78m.
China’s Jie Zhao and Jiale Zhang secured the silver and bronze respectively after a thrilling final round. Jiale Zhang moved up to silver with a throw of 77.10m on her final attempt, but Jie Zhao responded with a personal best of 77.60m to reclaim second place.
The Top 5 were completed by Silja Kosonen (Finland) and DeAnna Price (USA) with 75.28m and 75.10m, respectively.
