
Chris Nilsen became the first man to clear 6m in the pole vault in 2025
American athlete Chris Nilsen became the first man to clear 6m in the pole vault in 2025. He won the World Athletics Tour Silver Label’s event Perch’Xtrem in Caen, France, with a jump of 6.01m, taking the world ranking for the season. The Tokyo 2021 Olympic silver medalist cleared the winning height on his first attempt and then attempted 6.10m, but was unsuccessful.
Paris 2024 Olympic bronze medalist Emmanouil Karalis (Greece) finished second with 5.90m, while French duo Baptiste Thiery and Renaud Lavillenie shared third place with 5.80m.
Christopher Nilsen is also two time world silver medalist in the pole vault and once world bronze medalist. He is Pan American Games champion and two time Diamond League winner.
European champion Angelica Moser won the women’s event with 4.71m, cleared from her second attempt. She then tried at 4.81m but made three faults. The silver went to Imogen Ayris (New Zealand) with a personal best of 4.66m cleared from her third attempt, while the bronze was for Marie-Julie Bonnin (France) with 4.56m. Roberta Bruni (Italy) reami9ned fourth again with 4.56m but cleared from the third attempt, while her French opponent did it from the second.
