
Emmanouil Karalis opened the winter season with a victory in Rouen
Olympic bronze medalist in the pole vault at Paris 2024 Olympics, Emmanouil Karalis, opened the winter season with a victory. The Greek record holder in the event won in Rouen (France) with a world-best result of 5.85m. The French pole vaulter Baptiste Thiery and Olympic silver medalist Sam Kendricks (USA) both cleared 5.75m to form the men’s top three.
The 25-year-old Emmanouil Karalis, who won medals at all major forums in 2024, is also trying to clear 5.91m, but failed to clear that height.
Emmanouil Karalis is the current holder of the Greek national record. He won the silver medal at the 2019 and 2021 European Athletics U23 Championships.
In the women’s pole vault, Slovenian pole vaulter Tina Sutej won with 4.66m. Italian athlete Roberta Bruni finished second with 4.56m, and third with the same result and a national record for Belgium was Elien Vekemans.
