
Emmanuel Wanyonyi won the Stockholm Diamond League’s 800m gold with a run under 1:42 min
Paris 2024 Olympic 800m champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi and Algerian runner Djamel Sedjati put on another spectacular performance in the running. The Kenyan won the Diamond League race in Stockholm with a season-best time of 1:41.95 min. Djamel Sedjati finished second with a season-best time of 1:42.27 min.
American athlete Josh Hoey improved his personal best for the third place, finishing in 1:42.43 min.
The Top 5 was completed by Gabriel Tual (France) and Slimane Moula (Algeria)
It was also interesting in the women’s 800m, where Britain’s Georgia Hunter Bell beat two world champions, Mary Moraa and Prudence Sekgodiso. Georgia Hunter Bell won in 1:57.66 min after an attack in the final meters. Mary Moraa finished second in 1:57.83 min, while this winter’s world indoor champion from Nanjing, Prudence Sekgodiso, came in third in 1:58.00 min.
The women’s 400m was also dramatic, with American Isabella Whittaker winning in 49.78 sec. Norwegian star Henriette Jaeger led the race but eventually let herself be overtaken and finished second in 50.07 sec. This winter’s world indoor champion, Amber Anning, came in third in 50.17 sec.
