Ese Brume assured fans of her speedy recovery after a horrible car crash

Nigerian long jumper Ese Brume has assured fans of her speedy recovery after a horrible car crash in the US.

Ese Brume, a bronze medalist at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, narrowly escaped serious injury in the accident in which she was travelling with a British girlfriend. The crash left Brume with a sprained ankle and a strained neck, while her girlfriend suffered a shoulder injury, concussion and multiple cuts.

Photos of the damaged car have sparked concern among her supporters back home, particularly in Nigerian athletics community.

“I’m doing well”, said Ese Brume in a telephone interview. “My girlfriend is also recovering quickly. Thank you to everyone who has written to me. I hope everything will be fine and I will be back to training soon”, added she.

Ese Brume’s resilience comes as no surprise to fans who have followed her illustrious career.

Her bronze medal from Tokyo 2020 remains Nigeria’s only medal in track and field at the Olympics, after Blessing Okagbare won silver in Beijing.
