Femke Bol will miss individual indoor events of winter athletics. The Olympic bronze medalist in the 400m hurdles from Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 said she wanted to “reflect on everything that has happened in my career so far” and prioritize things in her life outside of sports.
“After the last Olympic cycle, filled with outdoor and indoor events, I decided to approach it a little differently this year. I am training hard and preparing hard for another successful year, but I feel the need to take a little more time away from competitions”, said Femke Bol.
The Dutch hurdler, who helped the Netherlands’ mixed relay team win the Olympic 4x400m title in the French capital last summer, admitted she could not resist the temptation to compete at the European Indoor Championships in early March on home soil in Apeldoorn, but plans to compete only in the relays.
Femke Bol will also not defend her individual 400m title at the World Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China, at the end of March.
