Athletics News . Triple Jump News Article

Bulgarian athlete Gabriela Petrova started the summer season in an excellent way. The European finalist in the triple jump in Apeldoorn 2025 this winter finished second at the international jumping tournament Tag der Uberflieger in Essen (Germany), part of the World Athletics Tour’s Bronze Label. The 32-year-old athlete recorded 14.37m (+0.6 m/sec) for second place. With this result, she tied for seventh place in the world rankings for the year with Ana Peleteiro (Spain). The standard for the World Championships in Tokyo in September is 14.55m.

The victory in the last attempt was recorded by the representative of Germany, Caroline Joyeux, with 14.45m (+0.2 m/sec). This was the first crossing of the 14-meter mark in the career of the representative of the hosts. Before her last attempt, Caroline Joyeux was second with 13.94m (-0.7 m/sec).

The competition did not start well for Gabriela Petrova, who made two faults in her first two attempts. On her third attempt in the sector, the European indoor silver medalist from Prague 2015 landed at 14.37m (+0.6 m/sec). On her fourth attempt, Petrova recorded 13.75m (-1.4 m/sec), but it bounced too far off the board. The Bulgarian missed her fifth attempt. On her sixth attempt in the sector, shed tried to regain first place, but achieved 14.32m (0.0 m/sec).

The bronze went to Saly Sarr (Senegal) with 13.85m

The Top 5 was completed by Jessie Maduka (Germany) with 13.82m and Diana Ana Maria Ion (Romania) with 13.81m
