
George Mills improved British national record in 3,000m
British athlete George Mills broke his country’s 3,000m national record at a World Athletics Tour indoor Silver Label’s Meeting de L’Eure in Val-de-Reuil, France. His time of 7:27.92 min moved him into ninth place in the all-time world indoor rankings. The previous British record in the event was held by reigning 1,500m world champion Josh Kerr (7:30.14 min) from New York last year.
George Mills won silver in the 5,000m behind Jakob Ingebrigtsen at the European Championships in Rome last year.
Less than a month before the European Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn, two-time European outdoor shot put champion Jessica Schilder showed excellent form and won with 19.85m, ahead of world indoor champion Sarah Mitton of Canada (19.75m) and world outdoor gold medalist Chase Jackson (USA) with 19.43m.
Jakub Szymanski won the men’s 60m hurdles with 7.46 sec.
