Georgia Hunter Bell: British athletes inspire each other on the way to the top
British 800m and 1500m runner Georgia Hunter Bell has expressed her delight at the exceptional success of the country’s women’s track and field team. Along with Keely Hodgkinson, Amy Hunt and Dina Asher-Smith, Georgia Hunter Bell is part of a strong core of athletes who have won plenty of honours on the track.
“We all sympathise with each other’s goals. When you see someone winning or wearing a medal, it motivates you even more to perform strongly”, said Georgia Hunter Bell.
She herself has had a remarkable year, triumphing with gold medals at the World Indoor Championships, the Commonwealth Games with Team England, and the European Championships for Great Britain.
The successes of Britain’s sprinters in 2025 were also marked by a record performance by Amy Hunt, who won four gold medals at the European Championships in Birmingham. Meanwhile, Dina Asher-Smith topped the all-time European championships rankings with 11 medals, eight of which were gold.
Keely Hodgkinson also left a bright mark, winning the world indoor 800m title in March in the second-fastest time ever indoors, and breaking the British national record in the summer. Despite missing the Commonwealth Games with a muscle problem, she also reached the European Championships.
“It’s incredible to be part of this era, it feels great. We know each other so well, we travel together and spend a lot of time together throughout the year. When you’re part of a team and you see a teammate win, your desire to contribute to the overall success becomes even stronger”, said Georgia Hunter Bell.
In addition to her achievements on the track, Amy Hunt also attracted attention with an attractive manicure dedicated to Birmingham landmarks such as the Bull Ring shopping center. She admitted to the BBC that she loves glamour and a stylish look.
According to Georgia Hunter Bell, the attention to detail and appearance before the start helps British athletes feel confident and ready for big victories.
“We prepare like we’re going to a party – we like to look good. It’s all about being confident on the starting line. When you feel great in your own skin, it always reflects on the running. Training is the foundation, but that self-confidence gives that extra bit of confidence that you can achieve anything”, explained the athlete.
The fashion decisions on the track don’t stop there. Keely Hodgkinson closed her 2026 season with a victory in the 800 meters at the Atlas tournament in London, appearing in a revolutionary aerodynamic one-piece suit with a hood. The outfit was reminiscent of Australia’s Cathy Freeman’s iconic outfit from the 2000 Sydney Olympics, and many believe it could become a trend for the 2028 Los Angeles Games. Georgia Hunter Bell also doesn’t rule out using similar gear in the future: “When you first see it, the reaction is, ‘Wow, we’ve never seen that before.’ It’ll be interesting to see if it becomes the standard. It’s said to give you more speed, so I’m definitely not ruling that out.”
