
Jarno van Daalen won double European U20 gold in shot put and discus throw in Tampere
Dutch athletics talent Jarno van Daalen won double gold at the Tampere European Athletics U20 Championships. After winning the shot put gold, the Dutch athlete also claimed the discus title as well,.
Jarno van Daalen triumphed in the shot put event with 21.07m. The silver went to Aatu Kangasniemi (Finland) with best attempt of 20.82m and the bronze was for Jakub Rodziak (Poland) with 19.37m.
Jan Fiala (Czech Republic) and Jan Ferina (Croatia) narrowly missed the podium with 19.17m and 19.02m, respectively.
In the men’s discus throw event, Jarno van Daalen won her second gold from the Tampere European Athletics U20 Championships with his best attempt of 63.18m. The silver was for Jakub Rodziak (Poland), who won his second honor from the championships, with 62.90m. The bronze remained for Zsombor Dobo (Hungary) with 62.26m.
In women’s shot put, Maria Rafailidou (Greece) won the gold with 16.16m. Her runner-ups were Anhelina Shepel (Ukraine) and Anita Nalesso (Italy) with 15.62m both.
