
Jazmin Sawyers returned to the long jump after a 13-month absence due to a torn Achilles
Istanbul 2023 European Indoor long jump champion Jazmin Sawyers has returned to the track and field after a 13-month absence due to a torn Achilles. The 30-year-old Briton suffered the serious injury in training in April 2024.
Jazmin Sawyers cleared 6.53m at the Loughborough International, which was her first competition since the injury. With such achievement she earned the silver with Molly Palmer winning the gold with 6.67m. The bronze went to Abigail Pawlett.
Jazmin Sawyers earned a silver medal for England in the long jump during the 2014 Commonwealth Games. She secured silver and bronze medals for Great Britain at the European Championships in 2016 and 2022, respectively. Additionally, Sawyers participated in the 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo Olympics, achieving eighth place in the long jump event on both occasions.
Moreover, Jazmin Sawyers is the World U20 Championships bronze medalist, European U23 and U20 Championships silver medalist and six-time national champion.
